What If? - 17th Edition - Bound for Glory 2012

TNA is finally rolling up to their biggest PPV of the year, Bound for Glory. It might not be as big as of a spectacle as Wrestlemania but in their eyes, nothing is bigger. The Bound for Glory card shaped up pretty nicely this year but I honestly believe it could have been so much better. So this week I ask the question:

What if I booked Bound for Glory 2012?

If you haven’t read this version of the column before then let me explain. I am going to completely fantasy book how I would want the PPV to turn out by not only choosing the matches I would like to see but also predicting how each and every match would play out. So let’s get this started.

TV Title Match

Samoa Joe (Champion) vs. Magnus

I have to say that I really think that TNA made the right decision for this match. Samoa Joe has been on a destruction path as of late and putting the TV Title on him was a great way to continue his momentum. It might not be the most important championship, but with time, Joe can make the title seem more prestigious. Magnus is the perfect opponent for Joe because they have history. Not too long ago they were dominating the tag ranks together and even held the tag straps. A former tag team partner feud is always something worth watching. I would pick Joe to win this bout but not easily. This would be a good chance to have a coming out party for Magnus and although he loses, he looks incredibly strong.

First Blood Match

James Storm vs. Robert Roode

How can you go wrong with the pairing of Roode and Storm? There is so much history between the two and there’s no better place to have this match than Bound for Glory. In reality, they are facing off in a street fight with a special enforcer named King Mo. In my little fantasy world I would change it up a bit. First off, I would take out King Mo entirely. Although I think he brings an interesting dynamic, he isn’t needed to make this match great. I also think a first blood match would be more fitting for this feud. Blood always makes thing more personal and what feud is more personal than this. I believe that James Storm would get the win here and finally this story would end.

Joey Ryan vs. Taz

Seriously TNA? You think we want to see Joey Ryan vs. Al Snow? Al Snow, the guy who ran around with a mannequin head? This has to be a joke. I seriously believe that if Joey Ryan faced off against Taz, it would be a hell of a lot more entertaining. I understand that Taz hasn’t been in the ring for probably a decade but I think one more match against an up and coming star like Joey Ryan would be something he wouldn’t mind doing. Obviously I am wrong but in my head I am totally right. Taz just seems like a bigger threat to me and Ryan winning over Taz would also seem more important. Ryan gets the win here and also Taz’s respect.

TNA Tag Team Titles Triangle Match

Daniels & Kaz (Champions) vs. Angle & AJ vs. Chavo & Hernandez

Remember the days when TNA had a great tag division? Those days are long gone but I do believe that these three teams are worth watching. I am fine with this match at Bound for Glory because the truth is, what other match could there be for the Tag Team Titles? To make things a bit more interesting I would make it an elimination style match. Who doesn’t love eliminations?! Chavo & Hernandez would be eliminated first since the more heated storyline is between AJ, Daniels and Kaz. I figured Kurt Angle could put the ankle lock on Hernandez and call it a day. After Hernandez taps, Angle gets into an altercation with Chavo which sidelines him. Kaz distracts the ref and Daniels hits AJ with the “Phenomenal Fetus” doll and gets the pin. Yeah, this one is pretty far out there but it would be incredibly hilarious and the right team would get the victory.

Hulk Hogan & Sting vs. Aces and Eights

Maybe Hogan can’t really wrestle but he should be in this match. The best way for Aces and Eights to make an impact would be to completely obliterate Hulk Hogan. Remember how The Nexus took out John Cena? This would be in a similar fashion where Hogan gets decimated by Aces and Eights which leads to him getting carried out on a stretcher. This would lead Sting to fend for himself and eventually lose to the Aces and Eights goons. This would be a great way to continue the storyline and give them a lot more heat in weeks to come.

TNA World Title Match

Austin Aries (champion) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray

Finally we have the main event. I decided to put Bully Ray in this title bout because let’s face it, he’s the best thing going on in TNA. By defeating Hardy and Aries in a triple threat match on Impact, he ends up getting thrown into the title match at Bound for Glory. The best part of a triple threat match, is that there is no DQ and no count out. This will be a valuable asset for Bully Ray. The match would end with Aces and Eights interfering to help Bully Ray win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and revealing that he is in fact the leader of Aces and Eights. With Aces and Eights earning the right to be on Impact and Bully Ray now the World Champion, this would leave the show with a huge cliffhanger that would have everyone in the wrestling world talking. Honestly, could you picture a better ending?

Of course, this is all fantasy booking but I truly believe that if this was the card and if this was the way it played out, we would have a much more entertaining show on our hands. This will obviously never happen but I can always wonder:
